Motion Design | Flow

This project explores "Being in the flow," a state of complete immersion in an activity. By using bacteria, with the thought that life wouldn't exist if they weren't in a state of flow, the animation visualizes this state through motion design. I chose bacteria to represent the state of flow because their continuous movement fascinates me and embodies the essence of being perpetually in motion.
Design Choices
The design process began with thorough research to find suitable footage of bacteria. I developed a storyboard and created assets for five scenes using Illustrator. These assets were then imported into After Effects for animation. I decided to exclude the last scene, which depicted the quantum world, as it might not align with the project's concept and could confuse the viewers.

Technical Aspect
Technical Aspects
The project involved several technical steps:
1.
RESEARCH AND STORYBOARD: I gathered footage and created a storyboard outlining the animation.
2.
ASSET CREATION: Designed assets in Illustrator for five scenes.
3.
ANIMATION: Imported assets into After Effects, where I animated the scenes. This included creating multiple compositions, applying effects, and using masks and shaders.
4.
RIGGING: A highlight was rigging the fish and the waterbear.
5.
COMPOSITING: Merged different scenes into a cohesive sequence, ensuring a perfect loop.
